I am an electrical engineer and an audio expert. I have tried out this product and I do not recommend this subwoofer. The first thing you must know is that this unit is rated at only 38 watts RMS -not- 150 watts RMS (check Crutchfield for the true RMS rating). 150 watts is the peak rating which is virtually meaningless. If you should know anything about subwoofer amplifiers it's that 38 watts RMS is not even close to adequate to produce decent bass. 150-200 Watts RMS would be considered a real minimum so you can instantly see that 38 watts is simply woefully inadequate. The only potential use for this product is to add a little extra (poor quality) bass to a low wattage, internally amplified head unit. Don't even think of using it with an externally amplified system, it simply won't be able to keep up. It produces muddy bass that easily distorts when driven too hard. In short it sounds awful. It's simple physics folks, 38 Watts RMS and one 5x7" driven speaker (yes one, the other is passive) just cannot produce good bass. Don't waste your hard earned money on this, find a better solution. If you really want better bass give up a little space for at least one 10" subwoofer with a decent amplifier. Don't settle for this unit unless you have the most minimal of needs and don't mind muddy, distorted bass, otherwise you will most likely be disappointed in the end. Do yourself a favor and learn it the easy way. You've been warned.

I got this to give me the low end that my truck was missing with out being big. it fits under the drivers seat and sounds great! I dont need door rattling bass and I dont want every one else to hear it (7 cars away) but this I can feel in the seat of my pants, well worth the money. now you do not need a instalation kit by boss for this- it comes with every thing you need exept a rca patch cord. the ajustability is great, my head unit has a sub output that can be ajusted low-med-high, so with the remote you can then ajust the volume and the freqencey for the sub. I love it and now my daughter wants one. the wire harness is 19 feet long.

This was added to the Pioneer AVH-P4000 that is in my Ford Chassis motorhome. While the original door speakers are actually quite good, they lacked the low end I was looking for. This won't give you vehicle shaking bass, which couldn't be expected from such small, flat speakers, but does give as good a bass boost as I was hoping for. Only issue was a loud beeping sound it picked up, just once on a 2000 mile trip. Must have been some powerful transmitter that it picked up and is probably more due to the cable from the deck to the speakers than an overall issue with the speakers themselves. I probably should have used a better RCA cable. Quality of construction is excellent and installation was only hampered by access to the back of my deck and not a product issue. Can highly recommend.
