These wipes are not useful for camera lenses. For cameras, I look for two things in a wipe:
1) That it will not damage my lens.
2) That it will clean the lens.
As to point one, these seem soft - but on reading the packaging, I find they are made from wood pulp. Normally, I'd never use a wood pulp based tissue on a coated lens - the box claims it is sufficiently soft, but when I'm cleaning a $1000 lens, I'm not going to take a chance.
As to point two, these tissues really really SUCK. First, they streak, leave a large quantity of fluid on the lends that then dries and leaves a residue !!! Second, they are NOT lint free, and leave little bits of white fluff all over the place!
These seem ok for eyeglasses, but absolutely avoid them for camera lenses.

I can't speak for other uses, but these have done a great job for every every kind of smudge that has hit either of my pairs of eyeglasses. I wasn't looking for a biodegradable product, but that's what they had at the dentist where I was first introduced to these and they work fine. You can imagine dentists see a lot of messy eyeglasses.
For those who haven't used them, it's just a small, individually packaged, little throw-away cloth that is treated with some cleaner. Small enough that you could keep one or two in your wallet or plenty in your purse. The cleaner just smells of something like isopropyl alcohol but it evaporates quickly and is not irritating to my eyes when immediately putting on my glasses. I personally follow up with a wipe from a kleenex and I'm good to go.
